# 8 Best GEO Software Tools (2026)

> Every GEO tool here can tell you a competitor got named instead of you. They differ on whether that view covers your own questions, on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode, at the price you would start on. Eight tools ranked on that, with Qvery's GEO Agent first.

If a prospect has ever told your sales team they found a competitor by asking ChatGPT, you already know what GEO software is for. An assistant answered your buyer's question with another company's name, and the pages it cited are ones somebody can read and somebody can change.

The useful tool shows you that from the inside: the question, the **rival named instead** of you, and the page behind the answer.

This list compares eight tools using their pages as read on October 16, 2026. Our GEO Agent comes first as our own pick; the others follow the evidence from their pages and users. After the list, I explain how we turn the findings into assigned work at Qvery.

Many of the Reddit threads that rank these tools are written by people who sell one of them. The users who don't sell anything are wary of the headline number, and their doubts are about the questions behind it:

**What Reddit says**

> the problem are the prompt volumes - how do u know if x people are asking and wording the same exact thing? how do u know if ur tracking the right prompt? spoiler - u will never know.
> ([r/SEO · Aug 2026](https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/1vnr3o5/are_seos_actually_paying_300_a_month_for_ai/p3kqupu/))

> AI answers can change based on the platforms, model updates, and repeated prompts.
> ([r/DoSEO · Jul 2026](https://www.reddit.com/r/DoSEO/comments/1v7rqb6/how_accurate_is_ai_data_in_semrush/p07flsx/))

So the share at the top of a dashboard is the number to lean on least, because it depends on which questions somebody chose. The rival named in your place, and the page behind that answer, **can be opened and checked**, and that is what this list ranks on.

## 1. [GEO Agent by Qvery](https://qvery.ai/geo-agent/): The Rival Named Instead of You, Question by Question

We build and run the GEO Agent, so it comes first. It uses your brand, industry, and competitors to prepare buyer questions, then asks them daily on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode in your chosen countries. It keeps the complete answers with all their citations.

For the job this list is about, it shows the questions where a competitor gets **named instead of you** and the sources the engines cite for your topics.

It sets them beside your visibility, [share of voice](https://qvery.ai/blog/ai-visibility-vs-share-of-voice/) and sentiment against the same competitors, by topic and by country. Qvery Assistant sits inside it: ask about the numbers in plain words, and it can add or change questions, start a run or export a report.

It covers only ChatGPT and Google AI Mode. Your team decides what to publish or pitch from the findings. Price: not published.

We also help you choose questions, read the answers, and improve the pages and sources they draw on. We build custom agents for the recurring work as a separate service.

> 🔎 **Where it shows the rival named instead**
> - The questions where a competitor is named and you are not, on both engines.
> - The sources cited for your topics, by topic and by country.

- It prepares buyer questions using your brand, industry, and competitors.
- It checks each question daily in your chosen countries on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode.

- Qvery Assistant answers questions about the data and can edit queries or export reports.

**Pros**
- Questions written for you, not typed in by hand
- The rival named instead of you, question by question
- The fixes and custom agents from the same team, as a service

**Cons**
- Two engines only
- Price: not published
- Your team decides what to publish or pitch

## 2. [Peec AI](https://peec.ai/): A Gap Filter for the Pages That Name Your Rivals

![The homepage of peec.ai](https://qvery.ai/blog/best-geo-software-tools/screenshot-peec-ai-homepage.webp)

*Peec AI's homepage, captured October 16, 2026*

Peec AI puts a gap toggle on its sources list: switch it on to see only domains and URLs that mention competitors and omit you.

Peec also suggests the competitor brands it finds in the answers themselves, so the rival list starts from what the engines say rather than from who you assume you compete with.

Starter lets your team choose ChatGPT and Google AI Mode among its three models. Unlimited users let the reader of the gap list and the page editor share access.

> 🔎 **Where it shows the rival named instead**
> - The gap filter on the sources list, by domain and by URL.
> - ChatGPT and Google AI Mode can both be among the three Starter models.

- A gap filter: only the sources that name your competitors and not you.
- Competitor brands suggested from the answers.
- Every cited source sorted by type: competitor, editorial, reference or user-generated.
- Answers checked for claims about your brand against facts you set.
- API, MCP and CSV export.

> 💰 **Pricing**
> - **Starter:** $95 a month for 50 prompts on 3 models, daily, 1 project, unlimited users.
> - **Pro:** $245 a month for 150 prompts and 2 projects.
> - **Advanced:** $495 a month for 350 prompts, 5 projects, several countries and Looker Studio.
> - **Custom plan:** every model (up to 13), API access and single sign-on.
> - **Billed annually:** 15% off.

Rating: 4.7 / 5 on G2 (21 reviews)

Reddit's recent Peec threads are mostly lists posted by vendors' own accounts; once those are screened out, too few independent comments remain for a card.

**Pros**
- A filter built for exactly this question
- Unlimited users on every plan
- Both engines possible on Starter

**Cons**
- Three models at a time below the custom plan
- 50 prompts on Starter
- Acting on the list is your team's job

## 3. [Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit](https://www.semrush.com/): The Cited Page, With Every Prompt It Won or Lost

![The homepage of semrush.com](https://qvery.ai/blog/best-geo-software-tools/screenshot-semrush-homepage.webp)

*Semrush's homepage, captured October 16, 2026*

Semrush shows who beat you from two directions. Its Sources report **starts from the page**: every page cited for your tracked prompts, and for each one the prompts it was cited for, with your mention status beside each, lost mentions included.

Its Competitor Research **starts from the rival**: you against up to four competitors at once, with the prompts where they get cited and you don't.

Those prompts come from Semrush's own prompt database rather than from your list, which makes it good for spotting a rival you had not thought of and weaker for the questions only your buyers ask.

Semrush charges per domain and bills annually. Its 25 custom prompts suit a short buyer-question list, particularly if your marketing lead already uses the suite.

> 🔎 **Where it shows the rival named instead**
> - The prompts where a rival is cited and you are not, from Semrush's database.
> - Every page cited for your own prompts, with lost mentions.

- A Sources report: each cited page with every prompt it was cited for, wins and losses.
- Competitor Research: up to four rivals at once, from Semrush's prompt database.
- 25 custom prompts tracked daily.
- Prompt Research for choosing the questions.
- A site audit for AI search.

> 💰 **Pricing**
> - **AI Visibility Toolkit:** $99 a month per domain, billed annually, 25 custom prompts.
> - **Extra users:** from $45 a month.
> - **Custom plan:** on request, with larger prompt tracking and API access.

Rating: 4.4 / 5 on G2 (4,269 reviews of Semrush as a whole)

**What Reddit says**

> I like the AI vis score - wouldn’t put everything into it, but its directional and gives me an idea if AI visibility.

> ([r/SEO · Aug 2026](https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/1vnr3o5/are_seos_actually_paying_300_a_month_for_ai/p3kf3pm/))

**Pros**
- The cited page and the prompts it won or lost, side by side
- A rival view that finds competitors you missed
- Inside the suite your marketing lead may already use

**Cons**
- Billed annually, per domain
- 25 prompts of your own
- The rival view draws on Semrush's prompts, not yours

## 4. [OtterlyAI](https://otterly.ai/): Both Engines for $38 a Month, With Unlimited Competitors

![The homepage of otterly.ai](https://qvery.ai/blog/best-geo-software-tools/screenshot-otterly-homepage.webp)

*OtterlyAI's homepage, captured October 16, 2026*

OtterlyAI has the lowest published starting cost here for both engines: Lite plus the Google AI Mode add-on totals **$38 a month**.

OtterlyAI tracks unlimited competitors and the domains and URLs cited in answers. Lite holds 15 prompts; a company selling several services may need Standard's 100.

> 🔎 **Where it shows the rival named instead**
> - Mentioned or not, against unlimited competitors.
> - Cited domains and URLs on every plan.

- Mentioned or not, prompt by prompt, against your competitors.
- Unlimited brands, competitors and team members on every plan.
- The domains and URLs cited in the answers, tracked daily.
- Page audits for how readable your pages are to AI.
- API and MCP access from Standard.

> 💰 **Pricing**
> - **Lite:** $29 a month ($25 billed annually) for 15 prompts on 4 engines, daily.
> - **Standard:** $189 a month for 100 prompts, with API and MCP access.
> - **Premium:** $489 a month for 400 prompts.
> - **Google AI Mode add-on:** $9 a month on Lite, $59 on Standard, $149 on Premium.
> - **Free trial:** offered to new users.

Rating: 4.7 / 5 on G2 (54 reviews)

Most of this year's Reddit threads that name Otterly are lists from accounts that sell something else; after screening those out, too little independent talk is left for a card.

**Pros**
- The lowest monthly bill for both engines
- Unlimited competitors from the first plan
- Monthly billing

**Cons**
- Google AI Mode costs extra
- 15 prompts on Lite
- API only from Standard

## 5. [AthenaHQ](https://www.athenahq.ai/): Read Your Rivals Free, Then Eleven Models on Credits

![The homepage of athenahq.ai](https://qvery.ai/blog/best-geo-software-tools/screenshot-athenahq-homepage.webp)

*AthenaHQ's homepage, captured October 16, 2026*

AthenaHQ includes sources and competitor insights in its free Essential tier. That lets you inspect the rival view before paying, but excludes Google AI Mode.

AthenaHQ counts credits, with one credit buying one AI answer. Starter covers one region; API access and extra credits cost more.

> 🔎 **Where it shows the rival named instead**
> - Competitor insights and sources, free tier included.
> - Google AI Mode from Starter.

- Sources and competitor insights, from the free tier up.
- 11 models on Starter, Google AI Mode included.
- Unlimited competitor tracking and benchmarking.
- CSV export on Starter.
- A content optimization agent on Starter.

> 💰 **Pricing**
> - **Essential:** free, with $25 of credit (300 answers) on 5 engines.
> - **Starter:** $295 a month for 3,600 credits on 11 models, one region.
> - **Billed annually:** 17% off.
> - **Custom plan:** custom credits, several regions, single sign-on.
> - **Add-ons:** API access and extra credits, paid.

Rating: 4.9 / 5 on G2 (39 reviews)

On Reddit, the AthenaHQ threads that turned up were either vendor lists or comments other roundups have already quoted; there is too little fresh, independent talk for a card.

**Pros**
- A free tier that already shows rivals and sources
- Unlimited competitors
- Eleven models with Google AI Mode

**Cons**
- The highest first paid plan here
- No Google AI Mode on the free tier
- One region on Starter

## 6. [Ahrefs Brand Radar](https://ahrefs.com/brand-radar): Who Gets Named Across 481 Million Prompts, Plus Yours

![The Brand Radar page on ahrefs.com](https://qvery.ai/blog/best-geo-software-tools/screenshot-ahrefs-brand-radar-homepage.webp)

*Ahrefs Brand Radar's home page, captured October 16, 2026*

Ahrefs builds its AI Visibility Index from real searches in its own database. Custom prompts answer a different question: how your chosen buyer questions perform, including your cited pages and share of impressions against competitors.

Every paid Ahrefs plan includes a few custom prompts: 5 on Lite at **$129 a month**, 10 on Standard, 20 on Advanced.

Ahrefs counts one prompt on one platform in one location as one check. Lite's 150 monthly checks cover five daily prompts on one platform; daily checks on both engines need more allowance. The index is priced separately.

> 🔎 **Where it shows the rival named instead**
> - Who gets named across Ahrefs' index of prompts.
> - Share of impressions against rivals on your own prompts.

- An index of 481 million prompts: who gets named in your market, no setup.
- Custom prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and the other platforms, daily, weekly or monthly.
- Share of impressions against competitors.
- Your cited pages, tracked.
- Next to the backlink and search data in Ahrefs.

> 💰 **Pricing**
> - **Lite:** $129 a month, with 5 tracked AI prompts.
> - **Standard and Advanced:** $249 a month with 10 prompts, $449 a month with 20.
> - **Custom prompt packages:** $50 a month for 2,500 checks, $100 for 7,000, $250 for 25,000.
> - **Brand Radar AI with the index:** from $199 a month.
> - **Top tier:** $1,499 a month.

Rating: 4.5 / 5 on G2 (720 reviews of Ahrefs as a whole)

If your team already uses Ahrefs, weigh the value of keeping its search data beside your AI tracking before adding another tool.

**Pros**
- A market-wide view of who gets named, before you write a prompt
- Your own prompts on every paid plan
- Beside the SEO data your team already reads

**Cons**
- Five prompts on Lite
- Checks take arithmetic across engines and places
- The index and your prompts are priced apart

## 7. [Profound](https://www.tryprofound.com/): The Prompts Rivals Win, on a Plan Built Around You

![The homepage of tryprofound.com](https://qvery.ai/blog/best-geo-software-tools/screenshot-profound-homepage.webp)

*Profound's homepage, captured October 16, 2026*

Profound starts its own workflow with the question this list ranks on. Its own guide says to begin with Answer Engine Insights to find the prompts where competitors get **cited and you don't**, then hand those prompts to its agents, which build and publish content aimed at them.

The free trial runs 50 prompts daily for seven days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, from a recommended set you cannot edit, with no exports.

Google AI Mode, your own prompts, exports and the API come on the custom plan, which tracks up to nine engines and is sold through a demo, with no price on the page.

> 🔎 **Where it shows the rival named instead**
> - The prompts where competitors get cited and you don't.
> - Google AI Mode only on the custom plan.

- Answer Engine Insights: the prompts where competitors get cited and you don't.
- Agents that turn those prompts into drafted content.
- Up to nine engines on the custom plan, Google AI Mode included.
- Agent Analytics: AI-sourced traffic to your domains.
- CSV and JSON export and an API on the custom plan.

> 💰 **Pricing**
> - **Trial:** free, 50 prompts daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, prompts not editable.
> - **Custom plan:** up to 9 engines, your own prompts, exports and API, priced through a demo.

Rating: 4.5 / 5 on G2 (1,137 reviews)

Compare the custom plan with the work someone will do from its findings before paying for drafting features as well as tracking.

**Pros**
- The rival-wins view is step one of its own workflow
- Agents that draft from it
- Up to nine engines

**Cons**
- No published price
- A trial without Google AI Mode or your own prompts
- Exports only on the custom plan

## 8. [Scrunch](https://scrunch.com/): Where You Lag, Plus the AI Bots Reading Your Site

![The homepage of scrunch.com](https://qvery.ai/blog/best-geo-software-tools/screenshot-scrunch-homepage.webp)

*Scrunch's homepage, captured October 16, 2026*

Scrunch shows where you lead, lag, or are missing against competitors. Its citation categories distinguish competitors' pages from other sources; Core limits the comparison to five rivals.

Core tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot; Google AI Mode sits **on the custom plan**, with the API. Scrunch also shows your own site's side on Core: which AI agents and bots visit it, beside the answers.

> 🔎 **Where it shows the rival named instead**
> - Where you lag or are missing, against five rivals.
> - Competitors' own pages as a citation type.

- Where you lead, lag or are missing, against five competitors on Core.
- Citations broken down by type, competitors among them.
- AI agent and bot traffic on your site.
- 125 prompts and 5,000 answers a month on Core.
- 5 site audits a month.

> 💰 **Pricing**
> - **Core:** $250 a month for 125 prompts, 5,000 answers, 5 competitors, 5 user licenses, 4 engines.
> - **Custom plan:** 9 engines with Google AI Mode, API access, single sign-on.

Rating: 4.6 / 5 on G2 (74 reviews)

Reddit's independent comments on Scrunch are few, and the ones that exist have been quoted in other roundups; not enough fresh material for a card.

**Pros**
- Competitors' own pages as a citation category
- Bot traffic beside the answers
- 125 prompts on Core

**Cons**
- Google AI Mode only on the custom plan
- Five competitors on Core
- No API on Core

## Every Tool Shows the Rival; Three Charge Extra for Google AI Mode

The table reads each vendor's own page as it stood on October 16, 2026. The rival view is close to universal; what changes from row to row is whether it covers your own questions and both engines at the price you would start on.

**The eight, by how they show who beat you**

| Tool | Where it shows the rival | Both engines from |
|---|---|---|
| GEO Agent by Qvery | By question, daily | Always both |
| Peec AI | Gap filter on cited sources | Starter, $95 a month |
| Semrush | Cited pages, prompts won or lost | $99 a month, billed yearly |
| OtterlyAI | Mentioned or not, cited URLs | Lite plus add-on, $38 |
| AthenaHQ | Competitor insights, sources | Starter, $295 a month |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | Across its prompt index | Lite, $129 (150 checks) |
| Profound | Prompts rivals win | Custom plan only |
| Scrunch | Lead, lag or missing | Custom plan only |

**Six of seven** outside tools show the rival and the cited pages on a plan with a published price; Profound sells only a custom plan. Google AI Mode is on that first plan at four of them (at Ahrefs, within Lite's 150 checks), an add-on at OtterlyAI, and on the custom plan only at Scrunch.

## Pick by Who Your Sales Team Hears About

- If you don't yet know which rival the assistants name instead of you, start with the GEO Agent or Peec AI: both show it question by question on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode.
- If your marketing lead already works in Semrush or Ahrefs, add their AI module before a new login, and remember that their market-wide rival views lean on the vendor's own prompt database.
- If no budget line exists yet, OtterlyAI with the Google AI Mode add-on or AthenaHQ's free tier lets someone read real answers first.
- If someone owns AI search most of the week and wants drafts as well as the list, price Profound's custom plan.
- If AI bots reading your site matter as much as the answers, Scrunch shows both, with Google AI Mode on its custom plan.

Whichever line is yours, ask the tool for **a list, not a score**: the question, the rival named, the page cited. That list needs the same questions asked every day: a single check shows one answer, and the rival named can change from one asking to the next.

GEO Agent: https://qvery.ai/geo-agent/

## Have an Agent Sort Each Week's Lost Questions by Who Can Reach the Page

An agent can sort the answers where a rival appears and you do not by who can act on the cited page. Give every row an owner before treating it as a work queue.

**What you'll need**
- One person for each kind of page, with the action that kind allows: change your own page, write to a roundup's editor, ask customers for reviews, read a forum thread, note what a rival's page claims
- The week's answers where a rival was named and you were not, with their cited pages, from the tool you picked
- Your rival list, in the names your sales team uses

**Write the owner list first.** Without it, the agent can sort the rows but has nobody to hand them to, and the queue goes back to being a report.

1. **Read the Week's Export** It reads the export from your tool (where your plan has no export, whoever reads the tool pastes the rows in), the rival list, the owner list and last week's queue. It opens no third-party page; a person opens those.
2. **Run It Every Monday** Once a week, after the week's answers are in.
3. **Keep the Rows a Rival Won** Keep a row only when a rival on your list is named and you are not, group the rows by cited page, and tag each page with its kind and the person your list gives that kind.
4. **Produce One Row per Cited Page** For each cited page, the queue shows the questions it was cited for, the rivals named in those answers, the person on it, and how many weeks running it has appeared, counted against last week's queue.
5. **Let Each Owner Accept or Reject** Every person rules on their own rows (act, watch or drop); the agent changes no page and sends nothing.
6. **Count It Against a Week by Hand** Time the first week's sort by hand, compare each week the agent runs against it, and count the rows each month that ended in a changed page.

## How Qvery Assigns the Work Behind AI Answers

A tracking subscription leaves you with another decision: who follows up when a rival keeps winning the same question? We use our GEO Agent to see those gaps. It drafts the questions your buyers would ask, from your company, your market and the brands you compete with, and runs them daily in ChatGPT and Google AI Mode for each country you select.

You can inspect the full responses and their citations, see which sources recur, and compare competitors by topic or country through share of voice, sentiment, and visibility. Together, we review what the answers say and correct the underlying pages and facts.

We ask your team to show us how they assign pages today, then build an agent for that routine in their existing systems. It sorts without waiting for someone to run it; people approve what happens next.

The first working version takes two weeks, including training for its owners, and we track sorting hours saved and incorrect assignments avoided each week it runs.

Bring that assignment problem to us when choosing another dashboard no longer answers it.

## Choose the Work Before Another Subscription

Before buying, name who will read the answers and who can change each kind of cited page. Choose a plan that covers your buyer questions and engines, then judge the weekly queue by what someone can act on.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do we need GEO software if we already use Google Search Console?

Google Search Console reports impressions in Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, while Bing Webmaster Tools' AI Performance report shows pages cited by Copilot. Those reports describe your own pages on their respective engines; the tools here add comparisons with competitors and the sources behind their mentions.

### How many questions should we track?

Cover your services and buyer types with questions your sales team hears on first calls. Starting plans here hold from 5 tracked prompts at Ahrefs to 125 at Scrunch; AthenaHQ counts answers instead, so compare what the allowance covers before choosing.

### Why does the tool show something different from what I see in ChatGPT?

AI answers vary across platforms, model updates, and repeated questions, so a single screenshot may differ from a tracker's daily record. [One asking is a sample](https://qvery.ai/blog/how-to-choose-geo-software/): read the trend and inspect the recorded answers before judging a discrepancy.

### Which AI engines should we track?

Track ChatGPT and Google AI Mode at a minimum if buyers ask both. Peec AI, Semrush, and AthenaHQ include both on their first paid plans; Ahrefs has a check allowance, OtterlyAI charges an add-on, and Profound and Scrunch require custom plans.

### Can GEO software get us recommended?

A measurement alone changes no answer: someone must act on the pages, listings, and sources it identifies. Profound and AthenaHQ also offer content agents, but a person still decides what gets published.

### Does Google want special optimization for its AI answers?

Google says no: its page on AI features states there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, nor other special optimizations necessary. The answers still cite pages, so the cited pages are where the work goes.

### What should a GEO tool show besides a visibility score?

Ask for the buyer question, the competitor named, and the cited page behind the answer. Those details give your team something it can inspect and assign, whereas the headline score depends on which questions were tracked.

### Can we try a competitor view before choosing a paid plan?

AthenaHQ's Essential tier includes sources and competitor insights with its free credits, but not Google AI Mode. Profound's trial also excludes Google AI Mode and uses recommended prompts you cannot customize, so neither trial settles how both engines answer your own questions.

### Why can a low starting price be misleading?

A starting plan may exclude an engine or lack enough checks for daily tracking of your questions. OtterlyAI charges extra for Google AI Mode, while Ahrefs counts each combination of prompt, platform, and location as a separate check.

### Should we use our own questions or a vendor's prompt database?

Use your own questions to follow what buyers ask your sales team. A vendor's broader database can reveal competitors you had not considered, but its coverage should not be mistaken for coverage of your particular buyers.

### What should happen after we find a page that names a rival?

Assign the page to someone who can decide what to do with it: your editor for your own pages, or a person who can approach an outside publisher. The proposed weekly agent groups those pages and their questions; it changes nothing and sends nothing.

### How would Qvery help us act on the tracking?

We use the GEO Agent to measure buyer answers and help your team work on the pages and facts they cite. For repeated jobs such as assigning cited pages, we build a custom agent, train its owners, and measure weekly hours saved and errors avoided.
